The CBC Business Education Building Renovation project included demolition of an existing 15,000 SF building and the construction of a new 24,000 SF that included incorporating portions of the existing building foundation into the new structure.
The building is constructed of concrete masonry units, wood framing, and metal roofing and houses the Business Education, Criminal Justice, and Paralegal Departments for the college.
The project is the first on the CBC campus to become LEED Certified. LEED, the widely accepted benchmark for high-performance green buildings, has four certification levels - certified, silver, gold and platinum - which represent how many "points" a LEED project has earned for meeting standards such as sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. The CBC Building has been certified LEED Gold and is a model project for promoting the benefits of green building.
